Doctor Malinda Pence is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She is an active member of the AOA, OOA & Cincinnati Optometric Association. Dr. Pence enjoys practicing multi-generational family eye care in a community-based practice. Her clinical practice is focused on medical eye conditions, dry eye syndrome, and eye allergies. Dr. Pence chose to be an independent eye doctor so she could blend primary eye care with advanced medical eye care in an integrative patient-focused care model.
Dr. Pence is happy to continue over 60 years of Optometry practice at Madeira Optical. After graduating, Dr. Pence briefly practiced in a local commercial practice. Unsatisfied with the commercial care model and clinical capabilities, she joined a prominent LASIK clinic in Kenwood. She enjoyed the clinical work at the LASIK clinic, but wanted to practice in a community-based setting.
It was then that Dr. Pence realized that she would have to acquire her own independent practice to provde the style of care that she wanted to. She didn't become a doctor to own a business, but that was the best way to realize her dream.
In 2002 Dr. Pence and her husband took out a second mortgage on thier home and acquired a venerable yet declining local Madeira practice with a history that goes back to 1956. She has spent 20 years continuing the strong community based eye care focus and developing a truly patient-focused multi-generational integrative and full spectrum medical care clinic with doctors who focus on children, adults and seniors. There are countless commercial practices within a few minutes of her clinic. Dr. Pence is so grateful that our community continues to support independent community-based practices.
Dr. Pence enjoys participating in the InfantSEE early childhood wellness exam program and has participated in medical missions to bring needed eye care to families in Cincinnati and developing countries around the world. She is an active participant in the Ohio Optometric Association RealEye volunteer program where visits local Cincinnati schools and teaches children about thier eyes. Dr. Pence lives in Madeira Optical with her husband and two kids and border collie Findlay.
