We’re thrilled to give a big congratulations to Dr. Karen Klugo, a mainstay in the Cincinnati eye care world, as she starts an exciting new chapter in academic medicine with Medpace. Dr. Klugo has been a Madeira Optical partner in comprehensive eye care and cataract surgery over the years. Her move from patient practice to working on transformative clinical trials is big news.

Dr. Klugo’s connection with Cincinnati runs deep

After graduating with a degree in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University, she earned her medical degree at the same institution in 1999. She sharpened her surgical talents with a General Surgery internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before returning to Ohio State’s Havener Eye Institute for her Ophthalmology Residency. During her time there, she was the go-to chief resident, making a huge impact with her dedication and skill.

Having partnered with Dr. Klugo over the years, we’ve been honored to send many referrals her way for specialized eye care. Her compassionate approach and interest in cataract surgery have made a real difference to many in our Cincinnati community. It’s been a privilege to have a collaborator whose expertise we could always rely on.
